Men and Marriage by George Gilder
I've been thinking a lot about something the always-controversial George Gilder said about men and marriage. I think he's right. He basically said that men are born wild (as Eldredge points out: Adam was formed outside the Garden, while Eve was formed in it) and only the love of women can civilize them. There's much more to it--but it's very interesting. It's not to say men are not equally valuable, but that men are filled with impulses that may or may not contribute to society and the home. But women always grow up to be homemakers. A woman without a man can still raise the children. For a single father, it's harder somehow.
I've tried to paste some of Gilder's text here, but can't grab it from Amazon. Check out the book, and read a few pages--beginning at page five. Let me know what you think.
