Whatever Happened to Stephan Kampf?

(Yes, this post keeps changing....)

Remember Stephan Kampf [sic--maybe he'll never find me]

Well, he's turned up on blogger.

But be warned.

A fair sampling of his style is his review of the Narnia movie. He claims to have liked it very much. He raises good points, and he accuses C.S. Lewis of heresy. It's an interesting discussion of the Ransom Theory--minor heresy if there is such a thing, particularly in a work of fiction.

But I still like his songs.

  • I'd say Mr. Camp changed for the better but then again I'm one of those pro-TULIP "reactionaries".

  • I don't think he ever changed. But that's why I offered the warning--it's nothing to do with the TULIP. Just what I might call his love for confrontation. His public calls for repentance from the makers of 'End of the Spear' a case in point.

I haven't researched it, but I'd be surprised to hear him disavow any of his lyrics from the 1980s. The theology was biblical.

Thanks for the tip about his site.

  • On that note, here's my favorite line from the new Zorro movie. The kid defines statehood as "the end of the exploitation of the peasants by the rich, who continually abuse us with the flaming poker of injustice!"

(Naturally, the boy is himself filthy rich.)

  • Sorry, was that "hair apparent" in your post? My laptop screen is sometimes hard to read...

  • Good one!

  • I think he is overly judgmental and critical,
    even of his
own bread and butter, and for him
to decide what is and what isn't
    worship is presumptuous. God
    looks on the heart.
His comments on the left seem
to be almost hateful at times.
    We do need more preaching/teaching
on sin and repentance. Some churches never hear either word.
But I'd consider SC more authentic if he did his own writing based on
scripture instead of on Tozer's or anyone else's writings.
